Cooking with Chef Perry

I'm being a bit tardy with this Halloween entry, but work has been keeping me busy again. Anyway, I've assembled a collection of audio clips I recorded from The Scruff Show back in the mid-90s, hosted by the one and only Scruff Connors. These were short comedy clips called "Quick Food Tips with Chef Perry". The guy isn't much of a cook, but he's really good at drinking beer. The clips are pretty funny, and because it's Halloween, I've started off this collection with the Halloween episode.

They're all packed conveniently into one audio file, including my shitty editing job, and varying qualities as they were taped over a period of about two years or so.

Anyway, enjoy cooking with Chef Perry!

I've been airing Chef Perry at my station in MN. We found some in our archive from Premiere Rock Prep. Seems impossible through research to find out who Chef Perry actually is. Any thoughts? I only have about 20 episodes, My boss saifpd there is more on reel to reel which I'm going to convert to cd.

A while back, I did a bit of research into "Chef Perry" and some of the other skits that Scruff used to play. These all seemed to have the same voice actors, so I'm assuming they all came from the same place. I found an online record of a complaint that took place against one of these skits called "Fag Talk" (yes, I have an episode of it). Here's a quote from the complaint which gives a clue as to where Chef Perry came from:

The piece was produced in America by a company that provides comedy services to stations on a subscription basis

If you want to see the complaint to get more insight as to where Chef Perry came from, it's here:

I've been digging through some old tape from a radio station I used to work for and found some more Chef Perry and Fag Talk episodes, different ones than what are shared in this thread! A few other gems too, like a spoof ad for 'Tuff Trucks'; just hilarious! I'm working on digitizing them now and will share here soon!

Mr Anonymous, I'd be very interested in getting a copy of that CD you mentioned making; the stuff is just so funny and I'd love to hear it!

A number of dishes are basically fish "cooked" in acid - from ceviche/cebiche which uses citrus juices, to the Filipino kilawin which uses vinegar. But is it really cooking? What really happens?

I (like everyone else here) still anxiously await the original poster's upload of more clips. I myself have come across several cassette tapes with clips recorded off radio broadcasts, with varying levels of quality...some are nearly inaudible due to static, but some are quite clear. I am working on digitizing them and will post here ASAP. Hopefully it will encourage the OP to post what they have found. Cheers!

Oh, by the way...related to some of the clips I'm working on, I found some uploads on Youtube that appear to be from at least some of the same folks who did some of the old radio spots. Search on Youtube for Julio and Audio, the person doing "Julio Copter" sounds identical to the old radio spots; his trustful "co-hard" "Audio Bisual" is probably not the same as the old radio spots. The Youtube stuff is not as good as the old radio spots, but it's a bit more recent (from about 7 or 8 years ago as opposed to nearly 25 years ago for the radio spots). Cheers!

Man I have spent endless hours searching for info on the guys who did these comedy bits. I have not found one thing. I can believe I cant find anything, A Nature Unlimited Film, Chef Perry, Frontier Gynecologist, International Coffees, They are all done by the smae people but I can find a name or anything. It doesnt make any since. I heard all this stuff in the late 80s and 90s in Florida and apparently Scruff Conors used the same stuff. Its like nobody wants anyone to know who it is.
