The 2020 Interplanetary Olympic Games (and other silly things)

As you can see, I've changed the header. Long time readers will have seen it before, and I was excited to bring it back for the year 2020.

The image comes from The Usborne Book of the Future which I touched on a long time ago (link here). The original images in that entry have been sucked into the black hole known as Photobucket which is a piece of shit now. My copy of the book is still tucked away in a box from my move, so I found a copy online to browse over (my apologies for the lousy quality and lack of editing). I figured since we're in a new decade, it's a good idea to go over the book and see what kind of shenanigans we need to prepare ourselves for.

The Interplanetary Games

So apparently, the people who are currently living on the moon (The Moonies) want to hold a worldwide event (wouldn't the term "worldwide" be inappropriate here? Wouldn't it be "galaxy-wide?). So yeah, this is apparently supposed to be a thing this year. I've self-appointed this blog to be an official sponsor of the 2020 Interplanetary Olympic Games. I hope I get free attendance.

The 2020 Interplanetary Olympic Games will be taking place in Armstrong, which is the Moon's capital city.

So, what else are we in for? Well, the Usborne book of the Future tells us some of the things we're in for between the year 2001 and 2050.

Here's some of the highlights:

- People and robots return to the moon to build a moonbase!
- The first moon baby is born!
- Hereditary defect in humans and animals are eliminated.
- Earth's junk yard ring system is formed
- Base set up on Mars to exploit minerals
- Asteroids used as a source of raw materials
- Venus's atmosphere is transformed
- Space city for 500 people built in Mars's orbit
- Wheel shaped space hotel built for tourists
- Earth's Population stabilizes at 6-7000 million people (in other words, 6-7 billion)
- Manned exploration of Saturn's moons begins
- New aircrafts powered by laser beams from satellites!

What exciting times we're living in! Welcome to 2020!
